Can you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Mohamed Jihad, and I am a 2021 graduate of the ISIT Master’s program in Conference Interpreting. Today, I work as a conference interpreter and I am deeply passionate about my profession.

Can you tell us about your academic and professional background leading up to your graduation from ISIT?

I started with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, which gave me a solid foundation in management and communication. I then worked as a project manager, which gave me a better understanding of the professional world and confirmed my interest in interpreting. Finally, I enrolled in the Master’s in Conference Interpreting at ISIT, which was a real turning point.

In a few sentences, could you summarize the impact that the Master’s in Conference Interpreting at ISIT has had on your professional and personal life?

It is a very professional program. ISIT is a recognized school in the field, which opens many doors. It allowed me to acquire solid skills, build a network, and above all, secure almost guaranteed job offers in the sector.

Can you describe your career path since graduating?

Since graduating, I have been working as a freelancer. I have had the opportunity to work with prestigious international organizations such as the UN and European institutions. I have also carried out assignments in the Middle East and North Africa. Each assignment is unique and rewarding, which is what makes this profession so exciting.

What have been your most notable professional achievements since graduating from ISIT?

My participation as an interpreter at major events, notably the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

What advice would you give to students in the Master’s in Conference Interpreting (CI) program for their studies and early career?

Practice regularly using simulations of high-level meetings (UN Security Council, United Nations General Assembly, etc.).
