Interpreter training

Two people currently training to be interpreters are interpreting in a booth at ISIT.

Since its creation in 1957, ISIT has trained a class of interpreters every year. Its Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting, which is recognized for its rigor and excellence and co-financed by the European Parliament, fully meets the current demands of the professional market. Since 2014, ISIT has been a member of EMCI, a European network of excellence in Master’s degrees in Conference Interpreting.

Interpreter: the ISIT Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting

Interprète formation : des étudiants qui cherchent à se former à ce domaine, entrent à l'ISIT.

This state-recognized Bac+5 diploma, awarded by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, prepares students for their future profession by providing them with in-depth mastery of professional requirements in the language combination of their choice. French and English are compulsory, as active or passive languages. Any other language is accepted, in particular those used in European and international institutions, subject to the availability of a teaching team at ISIT.

The Master’s degree in Interpreting equips students with the technical and linguistic skills essential to the profession of interpreter. It includes training in the main interpreting techniques, in particular simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. The curriculum also includes specialized modules in economic and financial interpreting, legal interpreting, and cross-disciplinary subjects such as geopolitics. Teaching is supervised by practicing conference interpreters, who also pass on the keys to the rigorous preparation that is essential for quality interpreting.

Students have access to internships and educational support programs offered by European institutions.
